Class 1

Follow along with Lauren to create a fun and easy printmaking project with items you have at home.

Materials:

  • Styrofoam - this could be a plate or a sheet of foam
  • Pencil
  • Pen
  • Washable Markers
  • Tape
  • Scissors
  • Wet Towel
  • Paper - printer paper works just fine

Directions:

  1. Cut your styrofoam into the shape you desire.
  2. Trace your styrofoam shape onto a piece of paper.
  3. Sketch a design onto the paper in the area you just traced.
  4. Cut out the design that you just sketched along the traced edge.
  5. Tape the design onto the styrofoam.
  6. Take a pen and re-trace your design to imprint your design into the styrofoam.
  7. Remove the paper from the styrofoam.
  8. Color in the styrofoam with the washable markers.
  9. Take a wet cloth and dampen a new sheet of paper.
  10. Take the piece of paper and lay it on top of the styrofoam you just colored with marker.
  11. Press firmly until the image starts to appear through the paper
  12. Gently peel back the paper and check out your design!
